Registration for new students for the 2017-18 school year will take place in the school office from Tuesday, February 14, 2017 through Friday, February 17, 2017, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.


ACCEPTANCE
Acceptance at our school is based on the following criteria:

  1. For Pre-K, a child must be 4 years of age by October 1, 2017.

  2. For Kindergarten, a child must be 5 years of age by October 1, 2017.

  3. For First Grade, a child must be 6 years of age by October 1, 2017.

  4. Kindergarten students will be expected to take the Kindergarten Readiness Test and students in other grades will be tested on material covered in Math, Reading and English on their grade levels.

  5. Medical records must be up to date regarding shots and boosters.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS ARE:
1. In grades Kindergarten through eight, each family is required to provide 60 hours of service to the school (more information to come).
2. There is one mandatory fundraiser in the fall (more information to come).
3. Attendance at H.S.A. meetings and support of the H.S.A. projects.
4. Copy of previous report card and standardized test results (grades 1-8)

PreK – $375.00
Kindergarten to Grade 8 – $475.00 
(NON-REFUNDABLE & NON-TRANSFERRABLE OUTSIDE IMMEDIATE FAMILY)

Priority will be given to those who are registered parishioners of St. Helena Parish.  Students coming from a Catholic School in the Diocese that has or might close, are also given priority.

All new students will be tested/screened before acceptance is final.  This is usually done in the spring.

The completion of a registration form should not be deemed as acceptance to St. Helena School.  An application will not be considered complete until all necessary paperwork has been submitted, including immunization records.

St. Helena School admits students regardless of race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally afforded or made available to students at the school. It is the policy of our school, and state law, to require a physical examination by the child’s physician for all new children entering school. Forms will be available at the time of registration.

Tuition K-8

Tuition is per year and it is billed in 2 payments. The first half is due on or before 
August 1, and the second half is due on or before February 1.  Kindergarten is a Full Day.

Tuition is paid directly to the school office.

Fees

Most fees are included in the re-registration (registration) fee, however, there are times when students are involved in other programs or activities that require additional fees such as athletic programs, graduation, class trips, drama, art, etc.

Service Hours

Every family is expected to contribute 60 hours of service to St. Helena’s School from August 1, 2017 – July 31, 2018.
Your help is needed during the school day, after school, and on weekends. Volunteer opportunities are listed on contract.
There are no special arrangements or exceptions. Families who fail to meet the entire 60-hour commitment will be charged $30 for each hour not worked.

Student Aid Application

Families interested in applying for tuition assistance to attend an eligible Diocese of Metuchen elementary or high school may do so beginning January 31st, 2017. The application process is now online through FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment. Online applications MUST be completed (including supporting documentation) by no later than Friday, April 14, 2017.

Families that need assistance completing the online application, or need access to the technology to apply, may register for one of the Application Workshops that will be held throughout the Diocese in February, March and April by going to Tuition Assistance Workshops. School Uniforms

Flynn and O’Hara provides our school uniforms. Orders can be placed through the school in the spring. For your convenience they have a store in Holmdel, off the Garden State Parkway exit 117. (2145 Route 35, Holmdel NJ 07733)

Fund-raising

Fund-raising is a great source of income to our school. All fund-raising activities are voluntary, except for the Christmas Raffle. We do encourage support of these activities.
