Transportation

Public Bus

Students, who live 2 or more miles from school and live in an area where busing is available, are eligible for free busing. If there is no busing in your area, you will be reimbursed by the State Transportation Department, provided you live at least 2 miles from school. It is the responsibility of the parents to fill out the Application for Private School Transportation(B6T) for each child attending St. Helena School. These forms will be given out at registration and must be returned to the school. The transportation department will determine your eligibility for busing or reimbursement. They will notify you if you are eligible for service. The transportation number for Edison is 732-452-4562. The transportation number for Woodbridge is 732-596-4136. You need to call the transportation department in your district if you do not live in Edison or Woodbridge.

Car Pool

Arrival: Students in grades K thru 8 should enter through the gym doors. Pre-K children enter in the front of the building near the flag pole. Pull car all the way to the end of the curb to allow for all students to exit their cars safely. Students should only exit from the curb side of the car.

Dismissals: Enter the parking lot at New Dover Road. Do not park along the church’s curbside.

All students should be picked up by an adult and escorted to their vehicle. There is an area “coned off” where students can be picked up.

Students who walk home are dismissed at the front doors or breezeway exits, depending on where they live. Crossing guards are available at both locations. Students in Grades 4-8 may ride bicycles to school. They are to be parked in the area provided. Locks must be used. The school is not responsible for loss or damage to bicycles. Bicycles must be secured upon arrival to school. It is presumed that parents have taught bicycle safety to their children.

Late Pick-Up

Children are never left out in the back alone. They re-enter the building, and must wait in the school for an adult to pick them up. Every effort should be made to pick your child up on time. Students not picked up on time (within 5 minutes past the scheduled time), will be placed in the aftercare program, and parents will be billed accordingly. This includes those who attend after-school events.
