Hi, Parents!
Happy New Year!
I know you have been awaiting word regarding dates and time for First Penance and First Eucharist. Thank you for your patience as we navigate these tricky times.
First Penance is Saturday, March 6 @ 10AM
First Communion is Saturday May 1 @ 10AM
Because this year is unique and because we are still under Covid-19 CDC guidelines, things will be a bit different this year.
For First Penance:
1. Please arrive by 9:30AM so we may seat you in your personal pew. One adult and one child only, both with masks. Absolutely no siblings and just one parent/guardian. Due to Covid-19, no practice, this is it.
2. A brief service will take place and then, the students will go to individual confessions.
3. There will be two priests hearing confessions, one inside the Church and one outside the Church by the Mary statue (weather permitting). Parents, please let me know your preference as soon as possible.
4. Please review individual confession with your child, perhaps role play going to confession. The Rite is outlined on pages 46+47 in the student book; and on pages 8-15 in the "My own Reconciliation Booklet" that goes with the book.
5. The "Act of Contrition" that Fr. Anthony prefers is on the back cover of the student book. Students should not be stressed if they cannot memorize the prayer. I will have sheets available for them.
6. While the student does not need to dress up in special clothing that day, please make sure they are wearing "Sunday best clothes" and are dressed appropriately to present themselves to the priests. If any special accommodations are necessary, please let me know ASAP.
7. I also need COPIES of your child's baptismal certificate. These may be scanned and sent to this email; or, if you prefer to give it to me on March 6th, that's fine, too. No originals, please.
First Communion instructions will be forthcoming AFTER March 6th. If you have any questions, please email me here.
Thank you!
God bless.
