We offer programs for Pre-K as well as before and after-care for families.
All students are members of the Holy Childhood Association. There are a variety of activities to raise money for the missions in addition to classroom donations. Students use Advent and Lenten folders to collect money for the poor. At the end of the year a mission carnival is held.
Students in grades K-8 participate in the St. Jude Math-a-thon and the Pre-K participates in a Trik-a-thon. Proceeds from these events are given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Since we began participating in these two events, we have raised more than $165,764.00 to date.
Scholastic programs include participation in the National Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies Olympiads and the New Jersey Math League. Fifth, sixth and seventh grade students may participate in the Bishop Ahr Grammar School Competition and the eighth grade students have the option of participating in the St. Joseph’s High School math competition.
Students are encouraged to participate in the arts. The Drama Club presents a Broadway-style musical annually. These have included Seussical, 42nd Street, and Lion King, Jr.
The School Choir is open to students in grades 2-8. Practices are held at school and the choir is often called upon to sing at the Saturday, 5:30 p.m. children’s liturgy and at other celebrations. Students in grades 7 and 8 are encouraged to participate in the bell choir.
St. Helena School functions as a community within itself as well as part of a wider community. Our activity programs encompass a variety of age levels and provide activities for the varied interests of the students.

Boys Basketball is available in the Fall-Winter months. It is open to grades 3 - 8.
Girls Basketball is available in the Fall-Winter months. It is open to grades 3 - 8.
Cheerleading is available in the Fall-Winter months. It is open to grades 3-8
Track and Field is available in the Spring and is open to both boys and girls in Grade 3-8.
The main emphasis is for the children is to have fun and try to improve on their time.
To participate in any athletics at St. Helena School, all 6th - 8th Grade Students must complete the following:

When you open the door to St. Helena's Pre-K, you enter into a wonderful world of wonder. It is a bright and comfortable room where the children are met by caring and nurturing teachers. The room is bright and cheerful which is a perfect environment for early childhood learning. The children even have their own kid-sized bathroom in the classroom.
The day begins at 8:00 AM. The students are dismissed at 2:20 PM.
Our goal is to build self-esteem, socialization skills, and communication skills. We also hope to provide experiences that build each child's emotional, intellectual, and spiritual growth.
The children work in centers, small group and large group settings. They learn about numbers, counting, letters, and sounds. All kinds of science and social study facts are taught. In music class, they sing their little hearts out and in art, they do all kinds of crafts. They learn about God and how to love and care for one another.
PreK students participate in weekly art classes, library, technology classes, music and physical education. They also attend the First Friday masses and participate in the annual Christmas play.
Through a variety of fun filled activities, the pre-schoolers are provided with opportunities to explore their world and acquire readiness skills for kindergarten. There are many hands on activities provided through the day. They are lead to wonder, discover, and investigate the world around them through creativity, curiosity, and imagination.
St. Helena School has Morning care available beginning at 7:00 am.
The after care program runs from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.
At 2:30 students have the option to change into play clothes and are given a snack.
From 3 to 4 p.m., a quiet homework time is provided for students in grades 1 to 8. During this time, Pre-K and kindergarten children have free play time. Toys and games are provided.
When weather permits, all children go outside to play from 4 to 5:15 p.m

Students in grades Pre-K- 6 present a Christmas program each year. It is comprised of a play, singing and dancing. Lead parts are done by sixth grade students.
Scouting is provided for boys and girls. The program includes Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Daisies, Brownies and Girl Scouts.
We have many clubs that changed based on the interest of the students. In 2016-17 we have a makerSpace Tech Club, Retro Video Game Club, Poetry Club, Research Club, Book Clubs and more.
Class trips provide enrichment for the students. Trips are planned at the discretion of the teacher and with the approval of the principal. As further enrichment, students attend a variety of assemblies and virtual field trips throughout the year.
Catholic Schools Week is celebrated with an open house, international family luncheon, Stem Festival, community service projects, academic competitions, Pre-K Olympics and a special family Mass.
To foster parental involvement, parents are invited to liturgies and performances, as well as to individual classrooms as guest speakers or as aides for various student activities. Parents can also volunteer as classroom aides.
